Veterinary Nurses

Ms Gill Williams

Gill Williams RVN

Practice Supervisor at Southport

Hi I'm Gill I have 17yrs of nursing experience and have been Head Vet Nurse at the holly lane surgery for the last 15yrs leading a great teams of nurses past and present, I have been very fortunate enough to travel to many different countries and also work as a volunteer vet nurse for Animals Asia Foundation in Chengdu with rescued Moonbears (Asiatic Black Bears) which I could talk about forever if anyone would let me ! I currently only have 2 cats of my own Piper and Phoebe (sisters) but have had a lifetime of owning a menagerie of animals ranging from hamsters to horses.

Now it's my 2 sons that occupy my time outside of working hours. I consider myself to be very lucky to still feel as enthusiastic about vet nursing as I did when started as a student all those years ago! Everyday brings new challenges and rewards from aiding in the care and recovery of our patients and seeing the happy faces of families reunited when animals are healthy enough to be discharged from our care. I couldn't see myself doing any other job.

When not at work I enjoy putting myself through ordeals like the 'Tough Mudder' challenge and half marathons with other members of the RVG team in my quest for personal fitness! The role I find most enjoyable in practice is working as part of the surgical nursing team. Supporting pets and their owners through their time at the vets is a very rewarding and varied job I thoroughly enjoy.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I am a Student Veterinary Nurse with Rufford Veterinary Group and split my time equally between the Holly Lane and Wennington Road branches. I started my Veterinary Nurse training in September 2016, spending one day a week at college and four days in practice. Working between both practices I see a wide variety of patient cases, which is extremely interesting and beneficial for my training.

I have always been passionate about animals and when I came to Wennington Road for some work experience in May 2016, I knew that Veterinary Nursing was definitely for me!

I enjoy all aspects of working in practice, especially inpatient care, whether it be short stay or long hospitalisation I like making their stay with us as positive and comfortable as possible.

Before coming to RVG I gained a 2:1 in English Literature at Edge Hill University and ran my own dog walking business.

In my spare time I love nothing more than walking in the countryside with my Lurcher ‘Evie’.
